We have survived. You have by now probably heard about and seen many pictures and/or news coverage about the crazy amounts of snow we have had here over the past week. It's pure insanity. D.C. never sees snow like this. It snowed for 2 straight days last weekend which meant everyone panicked and ran to the local Giant for the essentials - beer, toilet paper, Pillsbury items, chips, and Hot Tamales. Seriously, these are the things that were gone first. Geoff and I went out in the heart of the snow to capture a few pictures. This is me on Wisconsin Avenue - one of the busiest streets in D.C., which was pretty much deserted during the storm:
And this is our street, right in front of our apartment complex:
The snow stopped Saturday evening, but church was canceled for Sunday so we had our own services at Rock Creek Park, where we made this guy:
School and work were both closed on Monday, so we stayed home yet again. The roads were still pretty scary yesterday but I managed to make it to work, and then it started again. The snow started last night and hasn't stopped yet. To make it worse, this time we have ridiculous wind on top of it all, which means we have complete white-out conditions. We are too chicken to venture out in this mess for pictures, but this is what we see from our windows:
Thus, work and school were canceled again and we are at home trying to keep our sanity. Don't worry, Netflix, chess, and the Wii have been aiding our survival. We love the snow (and the time off work and school), but are really looking forward to being on the beach pictured in our previous post in a few short weeks. For now - bring it on!
